About Trisha

IMG_5283I am a wife to a great, supportive husband and a mom to two very active, fun-loving boys, and I am a lover of all things travel.  Cruising is what I love to do best.  I have been on many cruises with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity Cruises, Princess and Disney.  I have honeymooned in Jamaica and enjoyed all-inclusives in Cancun.  The gulf coast of Florida and Alabama has been among some of my favorite land vacations.  I have been white-water rafting on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon and the Pigeon River in North Carolina.  One of the more fun trips my husband and I have done is spend a week on a houseboat with friends on Lake Powell in Utah.  My favorite season is summer, and my family spends a lot of time on local lakes here in Southern Illinois on our boat.  We have taken weekend trips down the Ohio River to the Kentucky Lake in our boat with friends, which in the past has been a highlight of the summer.    My dream vacation is to visit the  British isles and stand in buildings and dwellings that were created and used hundreds, if not a thousand of years ago.  I am also an avid reader and love to read historical fiction, which feeds my hunger to visit these, what would seem to me, mystical places that hold centuries of history.  As you can tell, I am also a lover of history, mostly British and Scottish history, but I love to hear about and read anything that happened before 1900.

When I am not traveling, boating, or reading, I work out of my home as a home-based travel agent.  I started A Love For Travel in 2012 so that I can share the delight I find in traveling with others around the world.  This allows me to remain a full-time, stay-at-home-mom to my kids and available to my family when they need me.  My oldest son is very active in sports, and there is not much time during the year that I am not needing to haul him and a car full of his teammates to soccer practice, or running to pick him up from cross-country or track practice, or watching one of his meets or games.  My youngest son is a social bug and is always wanting to be at some friend’s house, or wanting me to run and pick up a friend to come over and play.  They keep me pretty busy.  When I am not playing mom-taxi for my kids, I do a woman’s bible study at my church along with volunteering on the social committee.  I also have a fun bunch of friends that I enjoy having lunches or dinners with.  Once a month, I play in a card group where a group of women play Euchre and enjoy food and drinks, a great, cheap night out.  I think my youngest son got his social bug from me.  I am a very social person, and enjoy getting together with friends, playing games, and laughing…. lots of laughing.  I like to be outside as much as I can, as well as the rest of my family.  It is not unusual to drive by our house on a summer evening and see all of us in the yard kicking the soccer ball around or playing catch.

My Christian faith has brought me through many trials and tribulations, and I thank God every day for giving me one more day to enjoy the wonders of His creation.  This is one of the reasons I love travel so much.  Every time I see the beautiful, blue Caribbean waters, I am reminded of God’s color palette.  Every time I look upon the strange vegetation like the cactus of the deserts of the west, I am reminded of God’s imagination and sense of humor.  Every time I see the Colorado River forging its way through the deep gorge of the Grand Canyon, I am reminded of God’s never-ending power.  God’s glory is evident in every aspect of the wonderful world we live in.  And I plan on seeing as much of it as possible before he calls me home.
